The arts are alive and thriving in the Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) thanks in part to ArtsWorks grants, arts community partnerships, the talented, dedicated classroom teachers, and the strong commitment to the arts by our Administration and supportive School Board. EUSD is currently involved in Tier 1 and Tier 2 of SDAN. The collaborative support and creative inspiration SDAN has provided has given our district leaders and our arts program wings of artistic knowledge, and the best times we've ever had at meetings!
2007-08 Program Highlights:
- Ensured that VAPA Instructional Improvement Committee will be in-servicing teachers districtwide on our newly-adopted VAPA Standards and Assessment.
- Planned for a cadre of teacher-leaders in the arts (one per school site) who will comprise our new LiaisART program. Each LiaisART will receive in-depth training in the arts and will in turn provide staff development in the arts at their respective site.
- Established assessments for students' visual art products
- Acquired funding to purchase visual arts textbooks
- Funded 6th grade music textbooks and CDs and replenished K-5
- Developed criteria which led to site plans to build capacity in the arts at all schools – every school has committed to funding ongoing professional development
- Continued with strong community partnerships
