2009-10 Program Highlights

• Standards-based sequential visual arts program for K-6 students from January – May
• Campo, Clover Flat, Descanso Jacumba, and Pine Valley Elementary Schools have an art docent program that provides grades K-6 with directed arts instruction.  Each grade learns about a different artist, and engages in art project in the style of that artist. The art is then showcased at the San Diego County Fair and at Open House in the Spring of each year.
• Pine Valley and Descanso Elementary Schools have extensive Fine Arts programs.  The 5th and 6th grades receive instruction in ballroom dancing through the EduDance Program with Ann Kranz.  We are able to provide two sessions of EduDance through funding from grants and the PTA.   All classes have vocal music instruction, and several grades receive instrumental music instruction.   
• Field trips to the art museum at Balboa Park are part of the curriculm at some sites.
• Four drama productions are presented every year at MEHS with particpation on several occasion by elementary students.
• All students engage in theatrical and musical presentations that are open to their respective community.
